About Mr. Shawarma & Grill

Our Story

Some restaurants are just businesses. Mr. Shawarma & Grill was never meant to be just that.

We are a family-owned halal restaurant proudly rooted in Elmira, Ontario — a small town that, we believe, deserves big, bold, authentic flavour. Since opening our doors at 383 Arthur St S, Unit 4, our mission has stayed exactly the same: serve Middle Eastern food the way it was meant to be made — with honest ingredients, real technique, and the kind of warmth you only get from people who genuinely love to feed others.

Where It All Started

Mr. Shawarma & Grill was born from a simple frustration — great shawarma was hard to find in Waterloo Region. The kind of chicken shawarma wrap that’s been slow-marinated overnight, carved fresh, and tucked into warm bread with garlic sauce that actually means something. So rather than keep searching, we decided to build it ourselves.

What started as a family dream became Elmira’s go-to halal restaurant — a place where the Middle Eastern community feels at home and everyone else gets properly introduced to some of the most exciting food on the planet.

What Makes Our Food Special

We don’t cut corners. Every item on our menu — from our signature beef shawarma and crispy falafel bowls to the now-legendary falafel poutine — is prepared fresh daily using halal-certified ingredients sourced with care.

Our spice blends? Family recipes. Our garlic sauce? Made in-house. Our chicken shawarma wrap? The reason most of our customers become regulars after their very first visit.

We also believe food should be accessible — which is why we offer shawarma delivery in Elmira through DoorDash, Uber Eats, and SkipTheDishes, plus catering across Waterloo Region for events, corporate lunches, and family gatherings of any size.

A Family, Serving Families

When you walk through our door — or open our delivery bag — you’re not getting a factory meal. You’re getting food made by people who take real pride in every plate. We know many of our customers by name. We remember the orders. We notice when someone new walks in and makes it our job to make sure they leave satisfied.

That’s not a business strategy. That’s just how our family operates.
